It’s been years now: God, it seems like only yesterday. Funny, I think sometimes I’ve got over it, I haven’t. It was sunny that day too, beautiful in that same golden brown autumn way. The descent of that singular black rose to land, silently, onto the freshly varnished mahogany. The lonely tear shed glinting as it runs the length of my cheek and follows the rose down, down. I’m alone and I feel you there. That same blank presence, that same untouchable silence against me.
